| ACS Entrance Exams |
The Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry at SFSU uses American Chemical Society (ACS) subject exams in the following disciplines of chemistry: Our policy is to allow incoming graduate students to take any or all of these subject exams with the goal of passing three. In certain cases, students may be required to fulfill additional coursework to satisfy the M.S. degree. Exams are twice per year, typically during the week prior to the beginning of fall and spring semesters. |

There is only one version of this exam - it contains both a section for spectroscopy and a section for aromatic chemistry. Thus, this exam for First Semester of the Two-semester Organic Chemistry course has 64 items, and then a choice of 6 aromatic chemistry items OR 6 spectroscopy items. To complete the exam students choose one set. Norms are to be calculated for both choices. (a) an OR06 First Term with Aromatic Chemistry; (b) an OR06 First Term with Spectroscopy.
