All students are encouraged to attend the orientation meeting before the first semester attendance.
All chemistry and biochemistry majors are required to meet with a major advisor during the Fall semester. To meet this obligation, students can attend a group advising session or seek one-on-one advising (more details below). Be sure to bring a copy of your unofficial transcript, your DARS REPORT, and your proposed class schedule for the next calendar year. Students who do not meet with an advisor will have a hold on their registration for Spring semester and may not be able to enroll in the classes they need.
ADVISING WORKSHOP – ORIENTATION TO THE MAJOR (Offered Every Fall)
This advising workshop is intended for new and transfer students and is typically held on the first Friday of the fall semester (for Fall 2008, this will be from 12:10 - 1 pm on Fri., Aug. 29 in Thornton Hall room 327). It will include an overview of the Department’s degree programs, course equivalencies, and various campus advising resources. ADVISING WORKSHOP – PLANNING FOR GRADUATION (Offered Every Spring)
This workshop is intended for junior and senior level students and is typically held on the first Friday of the spring semester (for Spring 2008, this will be from 12:10 to 1 pm on Fri., Feb. 1 in Thornton Hall room 327). It will include an overview of the Department’s upper division elective courses, research opportunities, scholarships and fellowships, and the various steps involved in preparing for graduation.
